Productivity=Satisfaction and Happiness
Do you ever look forward to Mondays? I do, because it seems like I can get my life back under control from the preceding weekend (no, it’s not what you’re thinking you alcohol fiends). It’s just that, when my good man is home-I seem to put my stuff on hold, maybe because I don’t want to be in the middle of something and get interrupted by him, and maybe I’m waiting for him to do something I can participate in…I don’t know exactly.
At any rate, Saturday-neither of us was feeling too well and we sort of took it easy-even a long nap in the middle of the afternoon. When I got up, I was just as blue as could be-that kind of dissatisfied, disgruntled, unhappy kind of thing. It lasted all afternoon and evening. The kind of mood where you’re happy to go to bed and get this yucky day behind you.
So fast forward to Monday. He’s gone to work-please pray for him-his job is hard, manual labor outside and it is hot and humid in central AR today! But here I am alone at home, and I have lots of tasks before me-sweep and mop the floors from the previous, unproductive weekend (yes, I have learned to sweep and mop from my wheelchair!); wash my clothes; clean the kitchen; make the bed; and get supper ready (here in Arkansas, dinner is called supper-fyi). I feel great!
My conclusion is this: Be productive. Find a way to serve. Stay busy. Get your mind off yourself. My guess is, you’ll feel more satisfied and happy in the bargain, too.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get busy.
